FUN or RUN: Helping Your Child Speak in Public
RUN:
— Your child steps onto the stage… and immediately wants to vanish.
— Whispers like it’s a top-secret mission, then bolts.
— Backstage drama: “I’m never doing that again! Ever!”
You’re left thinking: “But they practiced so well at home…”
FUN:
— Start with safe spaces: a dinner toast, a funny story for grandma.
— Make it play: “You’re the talk show host, I’m your guest!”

You: “Ughhh… Seriously?”
BUT THEN they say: “Let’s play Mafia. In English.”
Now you’re yelling “YOU’RE THE MAFIA!” and having the time of your life.
So… learning English with games — strange or normal?
STRANGE if:
– You’re just sitting and memorizing boring vocab lists.
– The teacher reads from a textbook like a robot.
– You’re scared to speak because… what if it’s wrong?
NORMAL (and even AWESOME) if:
– You’re playing “Alias,” “Charades,” or “Uno” in English.
– Everyone has a role — spy, detective, translator.
– You learn new words just by having FUN.
– Everyone makes mistakes — and no one cares!
Bottom line:
Learning through games isn’t just normal — it’s actually smart.
You speak, you laugh, and you remember stuff without even trying.
